Title:
William McKinley Autograph - 25th President of the United States - PSA/DNA Authentic
Description:
A particularly bold autograph of William McKinley (1843-1901), the 25th President of the United States, signed "Wm McKinley" in dark ink on a rectangular cream-colored paper slip. The signature is large and exceptionally well presented, extending across nearly the full width of the piece with McKinley's characteristic abbreviated form of his first name and sweeping terminal flourish.
The paper exhibits expected light age toning and minor handling wear. The verso bears light traces of previous mounting or adhesive residue as well as a small handwritten notation near the lower right corner. The autograph itself remains exceptionally dark, crisp, and visually striking. Exact dimensions of the autograph slip are not provided.
Historical Context:
William McKinley served as the 25th President of the United States from 1897 until his assassination in 1901. A veteran of the Civil War, McKinley served with the 23rd Ohio Infantry and rose from an enlisted private to the rank of brevet major. His wartime service preceded a lengthy political career that included service in the U.S. House of Representatives and two terms as governor of Ohio.
McKinley's presidency coincided with a transformative period in American history. During his administration, the United States fought the Spanish-American War of 1898, resulting in Spain relinquishing control of Cuba and ceding Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines to the United States. His presidency also witnessed the annexation of Hawaii and the country's growing role as an international power.
McKinley won reelection in 1900 but was shot by anarchist Leon Czolgosz while attending the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, on September 6, 1901. He died eight days later and was succeeded by Vice President Theodore Roosevelt.
Authentication & Encapsulation:
The autograph has been professionally authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA. The PSA label identifies the piece as "CUT WILLIAM McKINLEY PSA/DNA CERTIFIED" and bears certification number 85855930. The autograph is housed within PSA's protective tamper-evident holder, providing independent authentication and long-term preservation.
- Additional Documentation & Provenance: At buyer's request, Historical Autographs Gallery will include an additional "Historical Autographs Gallery Certificate" signed by our company founder Luke Pascal at no cost.

Its strong ink, excellent presentation, and independent authentication make it well suited for an advanced collection of American presidential autographs.
