Title:
Early Political Era Ronald Reagan Signed 12-Page Speech with Anti-Socialist Message entitled “Business, Ballots, and Bureaus”  — PSA/DNA Certified

Description:
Presented is a complete 12-page typescript of Ronald Reagan’s powerful political address "Business, Ballots, and Bureaus," signed and personally inscribed by Reagan in bold blue ink at the top of the first page. Typed on uniform stock with even toning and clear, legible type throughout, this set dates to the early 1960s—a formative period when Reagan was emerging from his career in Hollywood to assume the role of a political thinker and rising conservative voice. The inscription reads:

“Thanks for your kind letter. I spoke from notes on TV but this is in the main the talk I used, Ronald Reagan.”

One of the speech’s most impactful and now eerily prescient lines reads:
“The American people would never knowingly vote for socialism; but under the guise of liberalism, they would adopt every fragment of the socialist platform until one day America would be Socialist without knowing how it came about…We must meet the challenge now, or spend our later years telling our children and our children’s children what it once was like when men were free.”

The pages remain in excellent condition, showing expected handling and minor wear. Reagan’s full signature and inscription are exceptionally well-preserved and display beautifully.

Historical Context:
This speech was composed and delivered during the 1960s, as Ronald Reagan was transitioning from an actor and union leader to a national political figure. This period culminated in his 1966 campaign for Governor of California—a successful run that would launch his two-decade ascent to the presidency.

"Business, Ballots, and Bureaus" encapsulates Reagan’s emerging platform: a defense of free enterprise, a call to vigilance against the spread of socialism, and a rebuke of expanding federal control. The address is a direct reflection of Cold War anxieties and the ideological struggle between collectivism and American individualism.

In Reagan’s hands, this was not just a political speech—it was an ideological blueprint. His warning about socialism “under the guise of liberalism” speaks loudly to ongoing debates about freedom, governance, and national identity—making this a deeply timely and historically rich artifact.

Collectors and historians alike will recognize this as a rare and meaningful acquisition—timely, bold, and authentically Reagan.
