Title: 1952 John F. Kennedy Typed Letter Signed — Only Known Space-Flown JFK Letter, Carried Aboard the International Space Station, PSA/DNA Certified

Description:
Typed Letter Signed (TLS) by John F. Kennedy, one page, 6.25" x 9", dated November 25, 1952, on official U.S. House of Representatives letterhead. Addressed to the Lynch Family of Brookline, Massachusetts, Kennedy offers his thanks following his election victory to the U.S. Senate earlier that month:

"Just a note to thank you for your kind thoughts on my victory on November 4. I am looking forward eagerly to my service in the United States Senate, and I hope that my actions in the next six years will reward those who placed their trust in me in this election."

The letter is neatly signed in ink “John Kennedy,” with an added handwritten postscript: “Many thanks.”

Most remarkably, this letter was carried into orbit aboard the International Space Station (ISS) by Expedition 26 Flight Engineer Aleksandr Kaleri in 2011. It bears a clear blue ISS onboard stamp, dated February 26, 2011, validating its journey. The letter is encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA, certification #B502056, and remains in fine condition, exhibiting only light folds from original handling.

Historical Context:
Written at the dawn of his Senate career, this letter captures a young John F. Kennedy at the threshold of the national stage—a journey that would culminate in his election as President of the United States in 1960. But beyond the politics of the time, this artifact now carries an even more profound symbolism: a message from the man who would become the architect of America’s space age, literally carried into space.

In 1962, as President, Kennedy delivered one of the most iconic speeches in American history at Rice University, declaring:

"We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard..."

This bold challenge catalyzed the Apollo program, directly leading to the moon landing in 1969. Kennedy’s speech not only inspired a generation of scientists and explorers but also reshaped the trajectory of human innovation. The International Space Station, aboard which this very letter traveled, stands as a testament to that legacy—an orbiting lab of global cooperation, exploration, and peace, forged in part by the ideals Kennedy laid down in the depths of the Cold War.

Unique Provenance:
Following extensive research, this is the only space-flown letter signed by John F. Kennedy that we have ever encountered. Given JFK’s central role in launching the U.S. into the space age, the pairing of his authentic signature with a voyage into orbit represents a singular convergence of presidential legacy and space history.

Authentication & Encapsulation:

  • Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, certification #B502056

  • Encased in a secure PSA slab with header: “John F. Kennedy / Authentic Auto / PSA/DNA Certified”

  • Features official blue onboard ISS ink stamp dated February 26, 2011, marking its orbital flight

Closing Appeal:
Bridging Earth and orbit, politics and progress, this letter is a powerful tribute to the enduring impact of John F. Kennedy’s vision for space exploration. It is not merely a presidential signature—it is a message from the man who launched America toward the stars, now returned from space itself. A once-in-a-lifetime offering for collectors of presidential artifacts, space history, or Cold War-era innovation—this piece is unmatched in provenance, symbolism, and historical resonance.
