Swatch measuring approximately 0.5" x 0.5", removed from the rear seat upholstery of President John F. Kennedy’s presidential limousine following his assassination in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. The fragment consists of dark blue leather, consistent with the bespoke interior installed in the modified 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible (Secret Service code name SS-100-X), and exhibits staining attributed to the events of that tragic day.
The swatch is encapsulated and certified by CAG (Collectible Authentication Guarantee) within a protective holder measuring approximately 2.375" x 3.375", labeled: “Assassination of JFK — Blood-Stained Leather Swatch From Dallas Limo 11/22/63,” with certification number visible. The encapsulation ensures preservation, security, and clear identification of the artifact.
Historical Context:
On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy were traveling in a modified, royal blue 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible through downtown Dallas when the President was fatally shot. The limousine, designated SS-100-X by the U.S. Secret Service, had been specially lengthened and outfitted with custom features, including reinforced body panels and a distinctive dark and light blue leather interior crafted by Hess & Eisenhardt of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Following the assassination and subsequent investigation, the limousine was returned to Washington, where it was extensively rebuilt. The interior upholstery—including the rear seating area where President Kennedy had been seated—was removed during the refurbishment process. The vehicle was later upgraded with armored plating, bullet-resistant glass, and other security modifications, and continued in presidential service under Lyndon B. Johnson until 1967.
Privately held upholstery fragments from the Kennedy limousine are widely associated with noted presidential artifacts collector Raleigh De Geer Amyx. In 1983, Amyx obtained Letters of Authentication from F. Vaughn Ferguson, White House Technical Service Representative responsible for overseeing the presidential limousine. Ferguson assisted in the removal of the leather upholstery four days after the assassination and supervised its replacement prior to the vehicle’s return to service.
Authentication & Encapsulation:
Encapsulated and certified by CAG (Collectible Authentication Guarantee), with certification number printed on the label and holographic security elements visible on the reverse. The slab measures approximately 2.375" x 3.375" and preserves the fragment in a tamper-evident holder.

Closing Appeal:
This swatch represents one of the most somber and consequential moments in American history—a tangible fragment from the presidential limousine present in Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963. As an encapsulated and authenticated relic connected directly to the assassination of the 35th President of the United States, it stands as a profoundly historic and deeply evocative artifact for serious collectors of presidential and 20th-century Americana.
