Description:
This is a beautifully preserved commemorative Inauguration Day postal cover signed by President Jimmy Carter and Vice President Walter Mondale. The envelope features an engraved portrait of Carter with the inscription:
James Earl Carter
Thirty-Ninth President of the United States of America
Birthplace – Plains, Georgia
It bears a January 20, 1977 Plains, Georgia cancellation, coinciding with Carter’s inauguration as President. The envelope is franked with a 13-cent U.S. flag stamp marked Inauguration Day. Both signatures appear boldly in black ink: Jimmy Carter’s autograph is large and clear, positioned prominently in the center, with Walter Mondale’s signature neatly beneath. PSA/DNA has authenticated and encapsulated the envelope, assigning the autographs an Auto Grade of Near Mint–Mint 8.

Walter Mondale (1928–2021) served as Vice President and later became the Democratic nominee for President in 1984.
