Mary Moorman Signed Photograph with Eyewitness Essay on JFK Assassination – PSA/DNA Certified and Slabbed
Description:
Featured here is an extraordinary dual-sided artifact: a signed color photograph of Mary Ann Moorman—an eyewitness to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy—with a handwritten essay in her own hand on the reverse. The piece is encapsulated and certified by PSA/DNA under certification number 85481919, verifying the authenticity of both the signature and handwritten content.
On the front, Moorman is pictured standing at Dealey Plaza, holding the iconic Polaroid photograph she captured at the moment the fatal shot struck President Kennedy. She has signed the photograph clearly in black ink: “Mary Ann Moorman.”
On the reverse side, dated July 22, 2015, Moorman provides a moving handwritten account of her experience on November 22, 1963, detailing how she and her friend Jean Hill positioned themselves along Elm Street and inadvertently captured a moment that would become one of the most scrutinized images in American history. Her narrative conveys the build-up to the motorcade, her attempt to take a picture, and the horrifying aftermath. Below is the full transcription:
"7.22.2015
James,Thank you for your interest in the JFK Assassination.
That day in Dallas, November 22, 1963 was so exciting for my friend Jean Hill and I. We parked down town about two hours before the motorcade was due. We walked in Dealey Plaza along Elm Street to find just the right place to stand to take a photo of the president and Jackie. The closer the time for the motorcade, the more crowded the area became. One of the lead motorcycle officers came several minutes before and I took his picture. I had gone to school with him. When the crowd grew louder we knew the limo was getting closer. As the limo came closer, I began to focus the camera, Jean yelled "Mr. President, look this way, we want to take a picture!" I stepped forward to the curb to snap my photo and I stepped into history! We witnessed a very horrible scene –
Regards,
Mary Ann Moorman"
