Calvin Coolidge served as Vice President from 1921 to 1923, a period that marked the nation’s transition into the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Known for his reserve and integrity, Coolidge became a national figure after his firm handling of the Boston Police Strike as Governor of Massachusetts in 1919. Upon President Harding’s sudden death in 1923, Coolidge was sworn in at his family home in Vermont, going on to serve as the 30th President of the United States.
