1969 NASA Apollo 11 Launch Pass - PSA NM 7 - Rare Historical Artifact
This is an incredibly rare and historically significant NASA Apollo 11 launch pass from July 16, 1969, the iconic mission that first landed humans on the Moon. Authenticated and graded PSA NM 7 (Near Mint), this ticket is one of only 14 tickets known to exist at this grade. Even more remarkable, there are only 7 tickets graded higher, and those are just one grade above (PSA NM-MT 8).
The ticket features the NASA "Apollo 11" insignia with a stunning design of an eagle landing on the Moon with Earth in the background. The reverse side includes a message from Kurt H. Debus, Director of the Kennedy Space Center, stating the credential's purpose and its retention as a souvenir after the launch. Numbered 46, it represents an exclusive artifact for one of the most momentous events in human history.
About the Apollo 11 Mission
The Apollo 11 mission marked humanity's first manned landing on the Moon, fulfilling President John F. Kennedy's bold challenge set in 1961 to "land a man on the Moon and return him safely to the Earth" before the end of the decade. The mission launched on July 16, 1969, from Kennedy Space Center aboard a Saturn V rocket, the most powerful rocket ever built at the time.
The three-man crew consisted of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. On July 20, 1969, the lunar module "Eagle" made its historic landing on the Moon's surface in the Sea of Tranquility. Neil Armstrong became the first human to step onto the lunar surface, declaring, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Buzz Aldrin followed shortly after, and together, they spent over 21 hours on the Moon conducting experiments, collecting samples, and capturing iconic photographs. Michael Collins remained in orbit aboard the command module "Columbia," ensuring the team's safe return to Earth.
The mission successfully concluded with the crew's splashdown in the Pacific Ocean on July 24, 1969, forever cementing Apollo 11 as a landmark achievement in space exploration and human history.
Rarity and Market Demand
This artifact's rarity and historical significance cannot be overstated. As of this listing, the population report confirms its scarcity, with just 14 examples at NM 7 and none graded higher than NM-MT 8. A PSA 8 Apollo 11 ticket sold for $5,280 at Goldin Auctions in March 2022, underscoring the immense desirability of these graded artifacts among collectors.
For any space exploration or NASA memorabilia enthusiast, this is an unparalleled opportunity to acquire a piece of Apollo 11 history, representing humanity's first steps beyond our planet.
